CLOSED – Academic Medicine Call for Associate Editor Applications

THE CALL IS NOW CLOSED. Thank you to everyone who submitted an application for consideration! As of November 25, 2025, we are no longer accepting applications. We plan to reopen the call in the future, so please continue to check back if you are interesting in applying.

Academic Medicine is welcoming applications to expand the journal’s team of associate editors. Associate editors work closely with the editor-in-chief, deputy editors, and the editorial staff in evaluating manuscripts, making publication recommendations, engaging with authors, and participating in the processes of the journal as it continues to evolve to better serve academic medicine and the health professions. Associate editors also have opportunities to contribute to the Academic Medicine Podcast, curate special collections, and plan ways to expand the journal’s reach to keep up to date with ever increasing ways to elevate and advance scholarly work.

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in medical education and the missions of academic medicine and the health professions. They will also have experience in scholarly publishing. Priority will be given to those who have expertise in the areas of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, graphical representation of data, systematic reviews, AI in medical education, and/or leadership in academic medicine and the health professions.

The associate editor role is a one-year appointment, which is renewable. This is a volunteer role, and we expect the time commitment to be up to 6 hours per week with an expectation of flexibility.
